British Victorian Original Cheque, Dated 4 December 1896

This is an original and rare used cheque dating back to 4 December 1896.  It says Fossgate, York on the top.  Reference no 618.  Received by Mr Baxter, the sum of eight pounds, sixteen shillings and five pence.  There is a one penny stamp at the bottom.  A motif logo is on the left side of the cheque.  There is also a watermark saying The York Hide Skin & Fat Market Co.

It measures 200mm x 102mm.

The cheque has a hole in the middle and a few bits missing around the edges.  There are some folds, creases and tears too.  However, it is still a great unique item.
