A superb old handwritten letter addressed to Howards and Kent in Stratford, near London.  It has a receipt for one penny inside too. 

It is dated 16 December 1853.

It has a red penny stamp in the corner which has a stamp across it.  Included is also the Glasgow print stamp too.

The letter is in really good condition for the age.  However, it is marked which can be seen in all the photographs.  It also does have a tear which is about 1 inch across.  It is on the right side of the letter when opened just above the word 'oblige' and below the word 'full'.  It has clear fold marks too in it which can be seen clearly in the photographs.  Overall, the letter is a wonderful example from history.

It measures 26.5 x 20.5cm approximately when open.
