Victorian Solid Sterling Silver Vesta Case, Birmingham 1890

A beautiful Victorian Vesta case which is made in all solid sterling silver.  It has a floral scroll engraving on both sides.  There is an empty shield shaped cartouche on the front which has space for an engraving.  It has a rounded edge and hinge.  There is the serrated match striker panel underneath with a gilt finish inside.

It measures 4.5cm x 3cm x 0.5cm when closed.

It has a full British hallmark on the inside edge for Birmingham 1890.

The maker is M & L (probably Minshull & Latimer).

It weighs 18.9gms (0.6 troy ounce).

The condition of this Vesta case is excellent.  The hallmark are still very clear to read.  The inside is marked but this is due to it being a secondhand piece and being used many years ago.
